Surfboard Mobile for a Boho Beach Baby Nursery
I'm so happy to finally share a new design to the shop! Like so many things, sharing this lovely baby mobile has been on my list of things to do for quite some time - a list I have been ignoring far more than I should. I managed to snap out of it this weekend and have been editing photos and adding new listings to the the shop - FINALLY! I'm hoping I can keep the momentum going.
This surfboard mobile was initially a custom request for a talented artist who hand painted a lovely mural above her baby's crib. She asked if I could match the blues, grey/beige, and gold accents. I am always happy to create a special piece to coordinate with paint, fabric, artwork, photographs... you name it. Nothing is more fulfilling for me than to create designs that will fit right in with your decor.
As I was designing the surfboards on this mobile, the colors made me think of boho beach decor. (This is my latest favorite Pinterest search!) Picture natural fiber macrame, chunky afghans, raw wood finishes, and beautiful accent light fixtures like the one in my customer's nursery:
Though the mobile I created for her nursery included a navy blue vintage Woody surf car to match the one in her mural, the one I have in the shop includes a majestic grey whale. I created this guy ages ago for a different custom baby mobile and have always wanted to add him to his own baby boy, blue mobile. He finally gets is debut in the Flying Tree Studios collection!
I am, obviously, partial to the importance of a hanging baby mobile in every baby room and nursery. They can be such an eye catching focal point for baby, providing calm and visual stimulation.Though I wasn't creating my own baby mobiles at the time my own children were babies, I remember how they were instantly soothed by our store-bought mobile. Their eyes would dart as the pieces rotated, giving me a moment to catch my breath between nursing and diaper changes and bath time. With my wooden mobiles, I hope to create pieces that aren't necessarily tossed into storage the second baby no longer needs this kind of distraction, as the store-bought one was for me. Little guys grow up entirely too fast, so having this mobile hanging beyond baby's time in the crib can be a sweet reminder of those precious newborn days.
Please feel free to contact me directly if you would like to design a baby mobile, wall hanging, or wooden wall art to complete your baby nursery decor.
I love my five star reviews and am so pleased this mobile was the perfect final touch to this boho beach inspired nursery!
