Driving around the Hawaiian island of Kauai, you will see hand painted signs on surfboards or plywood signs that read, "Try Slow." I love this suggestion and remind myself to slow down in more ways than just behind the wheel. It's a gentle reminder to live with aloha. I've paired this phrase with my drawing of a lotus flower. May it remind you to take a deep breath and be in the present moment.
I cut each wooden surfboards from pine and then sand the rounded edges smooth. The artwork is applied, then sealed with a thick coat of high gloss varnish that makes them look like real, classic old-school surfboards.
